This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 A quick read that made me want to give math a second chance and appreciate God's notebook。This is a short story about a Math professor who only has an 80-minute memory and his interactions with the housekeeper and her son， Root。 There was no plot， but I really enjoyed the math trivias here and there， to feel the enthusiasm of the Professor and to relate to the housekeeper's curiosity and willingness to learn。 28 now has a special place in my heart， a perfect number that deserves a moment of awe A quick read that made me want to give math a second chance and appreciate God's notebook。This is a short story about a Math professor who only has an 80-minute memory and his interactions with the housekeeper and her son， Root。 There was no plot， but I really enjoyed the math trivias here and there， to feel the enthusiasm of the Professor and to relate to the housekeeper's curiosity and willingness to learn。 28 now has a special place in my heart， a perfect number that deserves a moment of awe and appreciation。 Now， I am also treating factorials and prime numbers with more respect and care。 It is exciting to find relationships and patterns within this abstraction， literally like taking a peek into God's notebook。 I did not relate with the baseball stuff in this book， so I mostly skimmed those parts。 I wish the author gave us a glimpse of the Professor's life before his amnesia。 I really thought the thesis paper would reveal something exciting， but it did not go that way， more like just formalizing a solved mathematical problem by the Professor。 I am also curious about the sister-in-law， she could have given us more background。Math would have been loved by all if all teachers have the enthusiasm， passion， and patience of the Professor。 Looking back， I feel sad to realize how much time and effort was wasted in things they call "education" but now I can barely remember anything。 Frustrating to know that generations of kids think the same。 I hope we get to meet teachers who are going to instill the passion for learning within us。 。。。more

A lovely book recommendation from my daughter。 Although math is a major theme in this book （and my least favorite subject） I really enjoyed the gentle， sweet story of kindness and friendship。 The housekeeper reminded me of my daughter - always looking for ways to make things pleasant for everyone around her without any thought of getting anything in return。
